Batam – 3rd Trip: Harris Resort Waterfront

Batam – 3rd Trip: Harris Resort Waterfront

Our group was split into 2 when we arrived at Batam since the mini bus taking us to the hotel couldn’t accommodate all of us.  I went in the first group and five minutes out of the terminal we were at the hotel entrance.  We were greeted by the hotel mascot, Bugs Bunny and a few hotel staff doing a welcome dance at the hotel entrance.  Irene and I went down and joined the group in the dance.  We were offered welcome drinks and warm towels.

The hotel lobby was filled to the brim with visitors and Lina and I had to queue to check in for our group.  It was around noon when we got there and after a long process, we finally completed the registration at the counter but had to wait for the rooms to be ready.  We made reservations for our free massage and for the hotel shuttle bus to take us to the city the next day.

When the 2nd group arrived, we had lunch at the hotel café while waiting for the rooms to be ready.

It was at lunch that we were approached by the lady who took our hotel booking, Linda.  She came to request us to give up a double room because the hotel was overbooked.  In exchange, she would give us a family suite and free Easter buffet dinner for 3 people.  So Irene gave up the room meant for her kids, Lucas and Sam, and took the family suite instead.  We are easy-going, aren’t we?  Si!

Our rooms were in the new wing, Harris Trendy, which has a very modern feel to it.  My room overlooked the beach but the sea was blocked by trees 😦  The room is spacious and clean and the furnishing is very simple.  It has free Wi-Fi too.

After checking in, we went downstairs again for our massage session at the cabanas situated at the beach.  It was a 1-hr session and each room is big and spacious, with 2 massage beds in the centre of the room and a big ceiling fan directly above the beds.  The masseuses ere very good.  Too bad it was only for 1 hour.

We had a walk at the huge pool area and Isaac, daddy, and a few others were already frolicking in the pool.  The pool was clean and there was a pool bar and a basketball hoop.  The men indulged in a game of shoot-out and showed off their ‘skills’ while hubby and I stood at the side and watched.  The pool was so inviting that even hubby was tempted to jump in despite being told by his doctor not to swim because of a damaged eardrum.  Maybe if we get to go back there we’ll take a dip 🙂

The hotel has plenty of outdoor activities including shooting range, paintball, flying fox, etc.  We didn’t try any of these though because of limited time.  Maybe next time…

Next…Easter buffet dinner and Nic’s birthday celebration
