Stay (Ven A Mi)

I just have to say this…I LOVE URS’ VOICE IN THIS SIMPLE SONG!  Ok, since when have I not loved his voice?  It is the reason I am an Uberbabe instead of a Diva, Siren or Cutie.  A fellow Diva said his voice is hypnotic…I think she nailed it with that description (Caelyn, are you reading???)

This song is a Spanish version of Shakespeare’s Sister, Stay, which I quite enjoy listening to but never would’ve heard about it if it wasn’t for Il Divo.  So here are both versions of the song:

Shakespeare’s Sister:

Il Divo:

I just love it when Urs goes ‘Ven a~~~~~~~~~ mi’…it just melts my heart 😛  It is so tender, sweet and haunting that I just can’t get enough of his lyrical voice.  Of course Seb, David and Carlos are wonderful as well but you know where my heart lies ❤

Here’s a translation of the lyric, though I’m having a hard time deciding what Ven A Mi really means…I get 2 different translations from a few online websites, some say it’s ‘You see me’, others say it’s ‘Come with me’.  I’ll go with ‘Come with me’ since it sounds more appropriate and romantic for the song, but if you think I’m wrong, feel free to drop me a note 😉

STAY (Ven a mí)

Cuando él te haga sufrir

y te rompa el corazón

nunca olvides que aquí

te espera mi amor.

Cuando no puedas sonreir

y mueras de dolor

Ven a mí

Ven a mí

Cuando él te haga sufrir

y te rompa el corazón

nunca olvides que aquí

te espera mi amor.

Cuando no puedas sonreir

y mueras de dolor

Ven a mí

Ven a mí

Ven a mí

Ven a mí

STAY

When he makes you suffer

and the heart breaks you

never forget that here

my love waits for you.

When you could not smile

and die of pain

Come with me

Come with me

When he makes you suffer

and the heart breaks you

never forget that here

my love waits for you.

When you could not smile

and die of pain

Come with me

Come with me

Come with me

Come with me

Enjoy!  And don’t forget to let me know what you think of both versions of the songs 😉

  1. Did you know that I loved this song way back in the 90’s when it came out? The video is crazy insane, but I loved the song. I sat in this little windowless office at the time, and the radio was on constantly. They played this song a lot. Wow, has that taken me back. LOL.

Anyhow, the translation of the Divo lyrics are beautiful. Much more romantic than the Shakespeare Sister version. In fact, I think maybe I could use them for something……LOL. 🙂 It is a gorgeous song. And the warble in Urs’ voice is pretty amazing! Bellisimo!

    • Thanks, T. I had no idea this song was played way back in the 90’s…where was I??? Oh, probably too busy minding 2 young ones and trying to make ends meet LOL So glad that when ID came along I was able to enjoy the little things that I had to sacrifice while the kids were growing up and I’m still enjoying them now 🙂

  2. Beautiful song!!! And I’ll have to say that I adore the Il Divo version. I could live the rest of my life without the Shakespeare’s Sister version. It’s just a shade too outre for my tastes. And, Judy, I’m right with you on Urs’ voice – breathtaking. I could listen to him all day long. But the combo of all the Divo’s voices is truly a marvel. Must confess – unlike T, I had never heard the song before I heard Il Divo sing it. And, T, I agree – the Divo’s words are much nicer. Thanks for bringing both of these here, Judy!!

    • I didn’t know the Shakespeare’s Sister version until ID’s version came along either but of course T would know. She knows practically every song that’s been played on the radio LOL And movies on the screen too…

Thanks for popping by, Nora 🙂

  3. I loved this the first time I heard the guys sing it, and yes, URS voice is outstanding
and I agree Nora, the combo of the four voices is breathtaking, they captured my heart the very first time I heard them sing.
Like Nora, I had never heard it before IL DIVO’s version, and much prefer IL DIVO.
Thanks for sharing both of them with us Judy!

    • You are most welcome, Carol.

I was wondering which song to blog about and worried that the Music page was just going to have one song in it when I heard Urs’ ‘Ven A~~~~~~~~~~~~Mi’ on the stereo and I knew I just had to write about that! 😛

  4. Shakepeare Sisters’ version is more gothic(?).

You know I’m a neutral when it comes to choosing my favourite(s) 🙂 But his voice is definitely hypnotic in this song… definitely… makes you go all dreamy eyed… lol

  5. Love the song..And I love the clarity of Urs’ voice…Like a crystal bell…I often wish he had longer solo parts…But I love it when they sing together too…They are Il Divo after all..

Had not heard the song before…While I liked Shakespears Sister too It cannot begin to compete with our guys version.

Thanks for the translation…the music is wonderful even if I don’t understand a word of it…but I really enjoy it when I have an idea of what they are singing about..

    thanks
    joan

    • Thanks, Joan, for popping by. I’m glad people enjoy this post and the songs. I have another song in mind but I need time to do some search for the right clips.

      Check back for it 😉

Ven a mi can also mean “come to me” 😉
